For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the night of October 4th 1918, near the Menin-Roulers Road in charge of the battalion ration party. Owing to intense shell fire the party became demoralized and scattered. Entirely alone, he dressed the wounded and collected the rations while the bombardment was on, ultimately delivering them all to their respective companies.
