Authority, Daily Orders, 1st Battalion, 28/10/18
For great gallantry and devotion to duty. On 3rd October 1918, during the counterattack at Ledeghem when the enemy put down a heavy barrage, these two men were in an observation post in the station absolutely isolated and watching the enemy through a hole in the roof. From this exposed position they sent back most valuable information about the enemy's movements in Ledeghem and in rear of it. During the whole of this time they were exposed to heavy machine gun fire and were continually sniped at, but in spite of this they ceaselessly sniped the enemy and caused him many casualties. They showed great coolness and a complete contempt of danger.
