This N.C.O. was one of the foremost men in a raid on the enemy trenches east of the Yser Canal on the night of 17/18 July 1917. He took a leading part in entering a dug-out, killing one German and taking another prisoner. His work contributed in a great measure to the success of the raid. (Strength of the raiding party – 2 officers and 50 O.R's).
