On the evening of 9th October 1917, the Transport were taking rations to the Battalion in the front line when a shell burst among them killing the Transport Officer and four of his men and wounding another. Pte. Hennebury and another, notwithstanding difficulties from shellfire, safely delivered the rations to Brigade Headquarters.
