Action Date, October 14th 1918.
For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty. On the 14th October 1918, during the attack from Ledeghem towards the Lys, this man's section was temporarily held up by enemy machine guns and snipers firing from a farm house. On his own initiative Pte. Greenslade dashed forward with his Lewis gun and carrier of ammunition firing from his shoulder and hip until he got to a position well around to the left flank. As he advanced he was heavily fired on by the hostile machine guns and snipers, but he got his gun into position and opened fire through the windows of the farm house. Under cover of this fire his section advanced, captured a machine gun and 12 prisoners. Pte. Greenslade's quick action and dash were worthy of great praise.
