Commander of the Order of the British Empire

The King has been graciously pleased to give orders for the above mentioned promotion in and appointment to the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in recognition of distinguished service in connection with the War – To be Commander of the Military Division of the said Most Distinguished Order. To be dated June 3rd, 1919.
When attached to and Commanding the 1/6 Royal Warwickshire Regiment, Col. Franklin was awarded the Distinguished Service Order – London Gazette 20th October 1916 – For conspicuous gallantry in action. He led his men in the attack with great dash and directed a bombing party after being severely wounded. (4th Army Order 62/257 – October 10/16).
While Commanding the 1/6 Royal Warwickshire Col. Franklin was twice Mentioned in Despatches – London Gazette, January 6th 1917, Sir Douglas Haig's Despatch of January 5th 1917 and London Gazette of January 1st 1916.
