Action Date, October 3rd, 1918 – Ledeghem.
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On October 3rd, 1918, at Ledeghem when the enemy put down a heavy barrage prior to counter attacking, he took out his Lewis gun entirely by himself 150 yards in front of the front line and caused considerable casualties on the enemy. He was entirely alone for a quarter of an hour, and during the whole counterattack remained out in his advanced post. He did fine work.
